Unknown to some locals and tourist the town is in fact composed of three coastal towns namely Catburawan, Maonon and Cabarian. Collectively, the three barangay is part of Albay West Coast which is situated along Burias Pass, these bodies of water that separates Burias Island of Masbate from the mainland Bicol. The Port of Claveria in Masbate and a lush vegetation of forest can be seen from Catburawan Beach.
Ligao City in the province of Albay is one of the three cities in the province which is gifted with rich agricultural land brought by the majestic Mayon Volcano. The town is famous for its Kawa-Kawa Hill just at least 10 minute ride from the city proper, the town is also celebrating its annual Sunflower Festival during the month of March which is highlighting the sunflower themed festival.
While staying on the beach, I have seen the local fisher folks transporting their big catches, I don’t know what species of fish is that but it was such a huge catch. By talking to some locals, I’ve learned that the catch that I saw was a little bit smaller from their usual catch because they are catching twice its size especially on its peak season.
The are four municipality adjoining Albay West Coast such as the beaches along barangay Buenavista, Macalidong, Basicao Coastline and Marigondon in the town of Pioduran; Maonon, Cabarian and Catburawan in Ligao City and Badian, Cagmanaba, Maramba and Nagas of Oas; and Apud, Rawis, Talin-talin and Pantao of Libon are a potential tourism site.
The tranquillity of the water and the semi-white sand in its coastline is a relief when you reach the destination after the long roadtrip. The stretch of clear bluish water of the beach is complimenting to the eyes on a sunny day. The floating cottages on the shore is a nice place to spend your day with your friends, it is also a good spot for picnic and for soul searching as the place is so calm and serene.

It would took at least one and a half hour of land travel to reach the destination if you will be riding on a private vehicle as it is the most easiest way to reach the coastal barangays. If you would go on a public transportation it would be very difficult to reach the area as the means of transportation like the jeepneys travel time is 12 in the early morning and 12 noontime.
But there are also alternative way to reach the area, you just need to ride a jeep from the city proper going to Pioduran and from Pioduran town ride another jeep going to Catburawan, my advice to those who wanted to commute is just be early and brought with you a bunch of patience as the jeep will not start unless it is full of passenger.
Everyone is very much welcome in Catburawan and the hospitality of their very own barangay captain is overwhelming. During our stay we were offered free foods and there was no entrance fee or any fee in the beach, the floating cottages was also free and you can stay there as long as you want. It will be a good idea if you would go on a camp overnight and will leave the area in the next day of your stay.

The beach is undergoing its way to a top tourist destination also the area is been declared as a marine reserve as there are already three Fish Sanctuary and Marine Reserves in the three coastal barangays with an aggregate total area of 135 hectare.
The road that connects Catburawan, Cabarian and Maonon to its city proper is already laid off and the on-going construction is expected to be finished to a more convenient travel and leisure in the city’s very own coastal gems.
On the way rolling hills, vast communal pasture lands and a high slope that will give you excitement and a very different view of the city, the view was so picturesque and in the afternoon you will think that you are in a wide pasture land flying a kite and feeling the cool wind as it gently flip your hairs as the sun starts to set. The view is just breath taking.
